Epost UFC News: The UFC announced on Thursday that, starting with UFC 273, fighters appearing on pay-per-view events would receive $60,000 in bitcoin bonuses.
The new Fan Bonus of the Night will be made up of three separate $30,000, $20,000, and $10,000 incentives that will be selected by a fan vote and paid in bitcoin at the current US dollar conversion rate. The additional benefits are part of the UFC’s 10-year, $175 million relationship with Crypto.com, which began in 2021.
In a statement, UFC president Dana White stated, “Crypto.com has been an official UFC partner for less than a year, and I’m telling you they are already one of the greatest partners we’ve ever had.” “They’re always coming up with new ways for us to collaborate and engage with the audience. This new Fan Bonus of the Night is a fantastic method to increase fan engagement while also recognising combatants for outstanding performances.”
The new bitcoin awards will be in addition to the UFC’s existing performance bonuses, which pay out $50,000 to each winner. Since 2012, the UFC’s Performance of the Night and Fight of the Night bonuses have stayed at $50,000.
UFC 273 takes place at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla., on Saturday, with the main card airing on ESPN+ pay-per-view after prelims on ESPN and ESPN+.
Alexander Volkanovski vs. Chan Sung Jung at featherweight and Aljamain Sterling vs. Petr Yan at bantamweight are the event’s major attractions.
