In the first quarter of the new year, video sharing platform TikTok has surpassed Instagram and others. According to a report by SensorTower, TikTok has become the most downloaded application in the world in the last three months.
The universally popular application TikTok was downloaded 175 million times in the first quarter of this year, but in India, Instagram remained at the top. The main reason for this is the ban on TikTok in India.
The report states that US technology giant Meta dominated the world’s top 5 mobile apps and its subsidiaries’ apps remained in the top 5 after Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp TikTok.
According to the report, since 2018, no mobile application has been downloaded more than TikTok on Google and Apple Play Store. By the beginning of 2022, the app had been downloaded 175 million times.

In the first quarter of this year, the app has been downloaded 70 million times on the Apple Store alone. This is an increase of 11% in a quarter in Asia
Cape Kit, another video editing application from Byte Dennis, the creator of TikTok, was downloaded more than 30 million times in the last quarter. It has been in the top ten on the App Stores for the last five quarters.
The report’s data shows that India topped the list of countries downloading Android and iOS applications.
With global growth, TikTok has emerged as the most downloaded app on Apple and Google Play Stores in the US and Europe.
However, Instagram and Facebook continued to compete with TikTok, ranking second and third.
TikTok and YouTube were among the top 2 apps in the first quarter of last year, but in the last nine quarters, TikTok crossed the 10 million download mark each.
According to the report, there was fierce competition between Telegram and WhatsApp in Europe. However, WhatsApp was second only to TikTok in terms of downloads.
It should be noted that TikTok was also one of the top revenue-generating applications in both gaming apps last year.
In 2021, TikTok has downloaded a total of 745.90 million times on both the App Stores.
Despite restrictions in most parts of the world, TikTok became the first non-Facebook and non-gaming application to have 3 billion downloads in the first half of last year.
