This mod restores Judgment to his original Hamura.

A new PC mod is restoring the face and voice of a Judgment character whose original likeness was summarily removed following a narcotics arrest some years ago.

Originally, the character image and voice for Kyohei Hamura in Judgement was based on Japanese singer and actor Pierre Taki. However, following his drug arrest, Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios hurried to replace him with the voice and image of Japanese actor Miou Tanaka.

Taki, on the other hand, has been brought back to life by modder Timo 654, who diligently restored the original vocal lines and likeness.

“The goal of this patch is to restore Kyohei Hamura’s original appearance and Japanese voice to the likeness of the actor who portrayed him in the original, launch version of Judgment, Pierre Taki, who was replaced because he was arrested for cocaine possession and use,” explains the Nexus Mod description (thanks, TheGamer).

“This is a transfer of the PS4 mod that has been rebuilt to work with the remastered PC version.”

If you want to run the mod on your PC, you’ll need the Ryu Mod Manager.

Japanese firms recalled merchandise depicting Pierre Taki during the controversy. Sega halted Judgment shipments and sales, and Square Enix patched Taki’s lines in Kingdom Hearts 3, when he portrayed the Frozen snowman.

Sega just revealed that the historical Yakuza spin-off Like a Dragon: Ishin, which has been “rebuilt from the bottom up,” would be released in the West for PS4 and PS5 in February.

Like a Dragon: Ishin was initially published in Japan in 2014 for the PlayStation 3 and PS4 under the moniker Ry ga Gotoku Ishin!, transferring the chaotic Yakuza formula to the Late Edo Period for a historical slice of samurai combat. It follows protagonist Sakamoto Ryma as he returns to his hometown of Tosa, where he is sentenced to death following a run-in with a high-ranking samurai. According to producer Masayoshi Yokoyama, it will exclusively have Japanese voice acting and no English dubbing.
