According to a respected industry expert, Sony’s PlayStation VR2 has been delayed until next year. Fans may have to wait a bit longer for the next-generation VR headset if recent rumors are accurate.

According to DSCC CEO Ross Young, Sony may not be able to release the PSVR2 this year. According to Ross, Apple and Sony’s VR headsets have been delayed until 2023. The PSVR2 has yet to be given a release date, and the 2022 prediction is based on industry sources. According to this projection, the PSVR2 will not be released until 2023 at the earliest.

While Sony has yet to confirm the postponement, it isn’t the first time the rumor has surfaced in recent weeks. PSVR Without Parole earlier said that the PSVR2 will be released in 2023, not 2022, as previously stated. The timing of the release was chosen for a variety of reasons. Because the chip scarcity problem isn’t improving, the supply shortage isn’t likely to be resolved very soon.

Due to chip shortages, the PS5 has a lesser installed base than previous versions. While the PS5 is unquestionably popular, sales have lagged well behind estimates due to a scarcity of chips. The console is yet to be delivered to a number of nations. Sony would want a much broader install base before launching the PSVR2, which makes sense given the PSVR2’s original limited market.
