Snap, the company behind the Snapchat social media platform, has released the Pixy drone, which is designed particularly for snapping selfies. Pixy was introduced during the Snap Partner Summit 2022. The bright yellow small gadget, which comes in the guise of a selfie drone, is essentially a creative companion. The gadget takes off from your palm and follows you about, recording film that can be shared immediately to the Snapchat app.
“Level up your Snaps, grow your audience, and get cash for your creativity with the latest features for creators on Snapchat,” said the company on its summit website. “Plus, meet Pixy — the latest way to take your creativity to new heights.”
The Pixy selfie drone weighs 100 grams (0.22lbs) and is about the size of a person’s hand. It’s unclear how a person launches a flight, or how much control they have over its direction or length.
Pixy, on the other hand, may return to the user’s outstretched palm after capturing the photos. Snap claims to have thereafter begun transmitting its footage. However, it is unclear how this will be accomplished. Pixy is available for $229.99 in the United States and France while supplies last. The Pixy camera, bumper and carrying strap, a charging cable, and a rechargeable battery are all included with the standard flight pack.
