Here's our first look at the Netflix anime Onimusha.

Capcom has revealed that an Onimusha anime is in the works for Netflix. This adaptation of Capcom’s dormant samurai action series is directed by Takashi Miike and produced by Sublimation Inc., the same firm that handled the Dragon’s Dogma series that was aired on Netflix in 2020. (Audition, Ichi the Killer, 13 Assassins).

The anime contains “3DCG” animated characters with hand-drawn backgrounds, according to Capcom. Miyamoto Musashi is based on Toshihiro Mifune, a Japanese actor best known for his roles in Akira Kurosawa films who died 25 years ago.

The Netflix Anime Twitter account shared the following photographs from the Onimusha anime:

Capcom hasn’t produced a new Onimusha video game since the 2019 remake of Onimusha: Warlords. Perhaps this animation is a prelude to a new mainstream game in the series?
