Technology giant Google has removed its old and once popular messaging app Hangouts from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
The messaging app ‘Google Hangout’, introduced in 2013, is being replaced by the default messaging app Google Chat for Google Workplace users.
At the time of the app’s launch, Google had hoped that the product might run like any of its other products, but the popularity of WhatsApp, Viber, and later Telegram had thwarted it.
Google has finalized the new chat service by removing the Hangouts app from the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store.
Android users who have downloaded this app in the past will be able to see it in their installed applications, but it will no longer appear in searches for new and old users.
According to the report, the Play Store Hangouts app is also visible to users who have used it before, but new users will see an error instead of the app.
Google announced in November 2018 that it would replace Hangouts with Google Chat, In October 2020, Google began work on this change.
