Capcom has released our first official look at gameplay from the upcoming Resident Evil 4 remake. Capcom largely highlighted this new version of RE4 via a trailer that showed off a number of different locales and characters that will appear in the game, which was first announced earlier this month at PlayStation’s State of Play event. While that trailer didn’t include any actual gameplay footage, we now have a taste of what to expect.
The footage in question, which was shown at today’s Capcom Showcase, came from the beginning of Resident Evil 4. Rather than a shootout with enemies, the gameplay simply showed protagonist Leon Kennedy walking through a dimly lit path and approaching a house.
Leon’s character model has undergone some changes since his last appearance, owing to the fact that this game takes place six years after we last saw him. Overall, the footage resembled Capcom’s remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, which was to be expected.
Capcom has not stated when we will see more of Resident Evil 4 in action. The game’s publisher and developer stated that they will have more information about the project to share in the future. And, while no specific release date was given, it stands to reason that the silence won’t last long given that RE4 is due out early next year.
This new iteration of Resident Evil 4 is set to release next year on March 24, 2023. When it is released, it will be available for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC platforms.
