The upcoming iOS 16 operating system from Apple will include native support for Nintendo Switch Pro controller and Joy-Con. iOS 16 is now in developer testing and will be available to the public this autumn. It will allow you to use Nintendo’s controllers to play games and do whatever else app developers can think of.

The addition of Switch controller compatibility follows the inclusion of support for the PlayStation 5 DualSense and Xbox Series X/S controllers in iOS 14.5.

Apple engineer Nat Brown revealed a way to connect the Joy-Con as a single controller or separate them to use as two distinct units while discussing the new addition: just holding the bottom face buttons (Capture and Home) for a few seconds.

Nintendo has yet to comment on the move, and there is no indication that the Switch controllers would be used in any of Nintendo’s iPhone games.
