A well-known Nintendo source has some depressing news concerning the rumored next Nintendo system, also known as the Nintendo Switch Pro or the Nintendo Switch 2, depending on which rumor you believe. There was a slew of speculations regarding the Nintendo Switch Pro in the run-up to the launch of the Nintendo Switch OLED not long ago, but nothing came of them.
Nintendo did eventually introduce the Switch OLED, but it didn’t meet the Switch Pro description that was floating about among random Reddit users, industry insiders, and journalists. However, the Switch Pro speculations have returned, along with additional reports concerning a real Switch replacement (Switch 2).
For the time being, it’s tough to tell what should and shouldn’t be done with it all. Many speculations claim Nintendo will announce new hardware this year, so we shouldn’t have to wait long to see whether this latest set of rumours is true. However, the aforementioned insider claims that a new Switch system will not be introduced anytime soon. Of fact, “soon” is a fairly ambiguous and subjective term, but it obviously refers to the rest of the year.
The scuttlebutt comes from Samus Hunter, an insider with a tumultuous background. In the past, they’ve been dead accurate with everything from Nintendo Directs to Fire Emblem. However, they have also proven incorrect in the past. To summarise, take this new information with a grain of salt.
At the time of publication, Nintendo had nothing to say about any of this. We don’t expect this to change for a variety of reasons, but if it does, we’ll make sure to update the piece accordingly.
